If spending two hours loading and unloading kayaks to and from the beach, and enduring passive aggressive monologues from guide Tom is your thing then this is the trip for you. If not, I suggest you hire kayaks and paddle across to Seal and Penguin Islands yourself. This is easily done and a far preferable way to enjoy the stunning environment.

We had a fantastic day with Liam our guide, who was both very informative and entertaining. We saw dolphins, seals in the mood to perform, pelicans and of course the very cute fairy penguins. Liam adapted the tour to suit the group and ensure we got the most out of our trip. We can recommend both Liam and Rivergods. Thanks for a very professional and fun day

The ‘Seal and Penguin Islands Sea Kayak Day Tour’ was a wonderful experience for us both. Booking was easy and full details were provided so that we were prepared for the day. Huge thanks to Carl who was our professional guide for the day and did a splendid job of ensuring we stayed safe and fully enjoyed our day kayaking the beautiful waters around the islands. Whilst the sea lions were elusive on this day (we did see one eventually), there was an abundance of other wildlife to be seen. Carl’s passion for this unique protected environment was obvious and he was keen to share his broad knowledge of the flora, fauna, landscape and island history within the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. Our tour included entry in to the Penguin Centre where we were able to view the little penguins up close – they are too cute. The penguin feeding session was also very informative. We highly recommend this tour for those looking for an active adventure in a very beautiful part of Western Australia. Many thanks from two happy paddlers.

Great guide, Carl. Knowing a lot about animals and nature. The sea lions didn’t want to swim when we paddled near and no dolphins were showing themselves, but if was even though a great day. Most surprising were the huge amount of Pelicans. A lot of other birds were also spotted. Only bad thing was when waiting at the meeting place I was called up and informed the guide was a bit late (good to be informed), 10-15 minutes, but he didn’t turn up until at least 40 minutes later. Would have been better having that time at the Penguin Island.

We have called to ask if they would provide us with the snorkelling equipment before booking the tour. He said there are life jacket and snorkelling gear for us. However, when we asked our coach to have the gear, he answered ‘I don’t think you can swim. The water is too cold.’ THEY DO NOT PROVIDE THE GEAR AS PROMISED! Because of the traffic jam, the tour started at 9sthg. We spent less time for the seal island. When we watched the penguin show, we was told that the ferry was cancelled due to the bad weather. The show was rushed as well. So the coach suggested us to end our trip earlier (no free time). Since it was VERY windy, we were the only kayak tour on that day (other tours were cancelled i can tell). It is very hard to make the return trip to the shore. We were always against the current. And the wave was high. We were exhausted without having fun... I hope the company would have cancelled the tour in the first place (like other tours did)...

Great if you're into bird photography. Ferry trip expensive, but for me, worth it to get to such a great place.

    1) I am very impressed with the guides Emily and P. Emily is very knowledgeable and seeks to value add our experience with her knowledge of wildlife. 2) Rivergod has very good and prompt service which I strongly recommend. I have done with a bit of research on which company to do this sea kayak adventure with. Rivergod is competitively priced with quality guides and service. 3) We were pleasantly surprised that my Husband and I were the only ones on the tour but yet, they did not cancel but proceeded with the tour. Most other tour agencies would have cancelled if the numbers are not to the maximum. For these three reasons, you guys are exceptional!! *send me the pictures from the tour!😄

We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guides Emilie and Alec were terrific. Emilie is very knowledgeable re the fauna on the islands and very confident on the water. The pace was perfect for us as relatively novice paddlers of reasonable fitness. We would highly recommend for anyone seeking a fun, active day out.

I would be sea lyin' if I said we didn't have the best trip ever with Emily and Carl. Rivergods picked us up from our hotel and took us out with a friendly service which was as smooth as a skink's belly. A dolphin and its calf even came out to greet us as soon as we got out into the water. It was as if it had been arranged on porpoise. A little further on and we met sea lions who were frolicking in the water around Seal island. The kayak is a great means to get up close to these wonderful animals and it's environmentally friendly too of course. Would have been difficult to spot the newly bred penguins on Penguin Island without Emily's expertise and the cost of the trip included entrance to the penguin feeding. In fact Emily was very positive and had a patient, 'can do' attitude (peliCAN not peliCAN'T) Overall Rivergods is way better than swimming with sharks and it won't cost you an arm and a leg.
