Get ready to be swept off your feet! The National Concert Hall in Dublin is the place to be on Saturday, 8 February 2025, as it opens its doors for the exhilarating 2025 Festival of Youth Orchestras. This year’s festival, brought to life by the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras (IAYO), promises a day filled with spectacular musical performances, with shows at 1:00 pm and 7:30 pm.
According to the 2024 review by the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation (ITIC), Ireland welcomed 6.6 million international tourists who spent a total of €6.2 billion, marking a 13% increase in tourism revenue. However, the average duration of stay decreased by 3%, with North America being the predominant source of visitors.
The IAYO stands at the forefront of nurturing young musical talent across Ireland. This vital organization connects over 5,000 young musicians from 108 different youth orchestras. These orchestras come from diverse backgrounds, including schools, colleges, and various community groups, all united by a love of music. Since its foundation in Ennis in 1994, and later evolving into a registered charity in 2001, the IAYO has been pivotal in developing youth orchestras, enriching the cultural landscape of Ireland.
Support for the IAYO flows generously from The Arts Council, complemented by backing from Cork City Council and significant endorsements from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, and Music Network through the Music Capital Schemes running until 2023. Furthermore, the IAYO’s active participation in networks like the European Orchestra Federation and the National Youth Council of Ireland highlights its commitment to both local and international music advocacy.
Tickets are already on sale and are expected to sell fast, so don’t miss your chance to witness this spectacular display of youth orchestral talent. The 2025 Festival of Youth Orchestras is set to be a cornerstone event, celebrating the vibrancy and dedication of Ireland’s young musicians and inspiring future generations to keep the rhythm alive. Join us at the National Concert Hall for a day of music, joy, and artistic excellence.
